Vintage Christmas Train

Vintage Train

This month the Artists-in-Residence at IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® all got some absolutely fabulous stamps from Stampendous to play with, and that just made me unbelievable happy!  I love Stampendous stamps!  I got this gorgeous Train Postcard stamp, which my son also happens to love :)

I started by inking up the stamp with an IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® VersaFine™ Archival Pigment Ink small-size inkpad in Vintage Sepia and stamping it on Ultra Smooth White card stock.

I stamped it again, this time using a VersaFine™ Archival Pigment Ink small-size inkpad in Spanish Moss (it is also stamped on Ultra Smooth White card stock).  I set this one aside for later.

Using IMAGINE Crafts® InkBlushers™ I sponged on IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink (here, I used the full-size inkpads) in Toffee Crunch and Rich Cocoa.  I concentrated on the area inside the oval.

Once I was satisfied with the aged color, I used more InkBlushers™ and added Memento™ Dye Ink (here again, I used the full-size inkpads) in London Fog to give a bit of color to the train, and to create steam coming out of the top. I also used Memento™ Dye Ink in Olive Grove to add a bit of green on the left and right sides of the image, where bushes and tress were.  You can see the end result in the picture below.

I set this completed image aside and went back to the one I stamped in VersaFine™ Archival Pigment Ink in Spanish Moss.  Using my craft knife I cut out the oval center section  so that I could replace it with the one I'd added color to in the earlier steps.  To this frame I created, I used Memento™ Dye Ink (again, I used the full-size inkpads) in Desert Sand sponged on with InkBlushers™ to give it an aged effect; I used Cottage Grove to add a bit of green to the holly area.  The red on the berries was added using a Memento™ Dye Ink dual tip marker in Love Letter.

I popped the frame up on dimensional dots, and added a few of images from another Stampendous set I already had (Railway) that worked perfectly with it.  The card base is some fabulous Core'dinations Graphic 45 textured card stock, sanded to reveal the core color.
