I'm so excited to be sharing another project for Tsukineko this month - today I have a fun theme challenge for you! I received the new Vineyard Kaleidacolor pad, along with a few Memento Dew Drops, and was challenged to make a project that corresponded with that theme.
I chose to create a Picnic in Paris, complete with a bottle of wine, gift tags, and lovely card to include in the basket. On my projects I've used Memento Lulu Lavender, Sweet Plum, Espresso Truffle, Gray Flannel, and Bamboo Leaves, along with the Vineyard Kaleidacolor pad.
I created the card in several steps. After finding card stock to coordinate with my color scheme, I settled on stamps from Stampendous - the card uses I Love Paris. I cut my white background mat to 3 5/8" x 4 7/8", sponged Gray Flannel on the edges with an InkBlusher, and then spritzed Frost Shimmer Spritz on. I matted on a green panel 1/8" larger, and set it aside.
I did not have any patterned paper I wanted to use with this card, so I used my gorgeous Kaleidacolor ink pad to make my own! I clicked the ink pads together and turned it over, directly pressing the pad to my card stock. The result was a panel with graduated colors that perfectly matched my card! I sponged Gray Flannel ink on the edges.
To create my main image panel, I used the Memento Dew Drops to add ink to each part of the stamp I used - Dew Drops are really great for applications like this! I added ink the edges with an InkBlusher again.
I also stamped a butterfly from the Royal Butterfly set using Lulu Lavender, fussy cut it, and adhered only the body of it near the Eiffel Tower - I pulled the wings upward, for interest.
Along the bottom of the panel, I applied Purple Color Fragments, Lavender Glass Glitter, and Silver Glass Glitter (all from Stampendous). I put a strip of adhesive from my Xyron Mega Runner across the bottom, the poured o the fragments! Sticks like a charm!
The tags were originally intended for the handle of the picnic basket, but after I made them I decided I like them better on the wine bottle. I used a Paper Smooches tag die to create two white tags. I inked up a small border from the Charm Collection set with my Vineyard Kaleidacolor pad and stamped it along the bottom of each tag.
Then I inked up a flourish from the Eiffel Tower set with the Vineyard Kaleidacolor pad and stamped it at the top of each tag. I used the Gray Flannel for the small Eiffel Tower (Charm Collection); I used Bamboo Leaves and Sweet Plum for the postage script (but I stamped each one off once, to give it a lighter appearance on my tag).
I also added a small butterfly, stamped in Lulu Lavender and fussy cut, to the middle of the top tag. To give dimension, it is adhered with a dimensional dot. I tied the tags to my wine bottle with some May Arts ribbon.
The wine bottle label was the easiest part of my whole project! I trimmed a piece of white card stock to 3 5/8" x 11". Then I sponged Gray Flannel and Espresso Truffle inks (from my Dew Drop pads) on the edges with an InkBlusher. I also used Dew Drops - this time Bamboo Leaves and Sweet Plum - to ink up the large floral image I then stamped in the middle of my label.
I stamped the butterfly twice. First directly on the label, and again on a separate piece of white card stock. I applies Lulu Lavender ink directly from the Dew Drop pad all over the second butterfly; Sweet Plum was applied to the edges of the wings. I adhered only the middle of the butterfly with a wet glue, and popped the wings up with my fingers.
I used mega runner again to adhere the card stock to the bottle of wine. To finish it off, I added two bling strips.
All this needs is a bit of bread and cheese (and plane tickets to a vineyard in Paris, of course) and it's the perfect afternoon picnic!
