I Just Want to Travel

All I really want to do with the rest of my life is travel.  And not on a tour bus, doing some guided group thing with a bunch of people taking pictures.  I have no interest in cruises on those ginormous ocean liners, either. I want to see, hear, smell, and feel it all for myself.  In a perfect world, we'd pack up the kids tomorrow and head out. The reality, though, is different. Until the day comes when we can pack up and move to one of our dream destinations, I'll be content with planning my trips.  I'll surround my family with our beloved maps, atlases, travel shows, and endless viewings of House Hunters International.  Good thing they all feel the same way I do about traveling!

Today I'm going to share the top twenty countries I'd like to visit.  And then, once every couple weeks or so (maybe sooner, maybe not) I'll pick a country from my list and share the highlights I'd like to see while I'm there.

So here they are, in (mostly) random order:

  • UK
  • Ireland
  • Iceland
  • Norway
  • New Zealand
  • Nepal
  • Denmark
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Sweden
  • Iceland
  • France
  • South Africa
  • Bhutan
  • Turkey
  • China
  • Romania
  • Netherlands
  • Japan
  • Austria

I recently read the book The Unexpected Circumnavigation by Christi Grab.  It's a non-fiction account of one couple's trip (by boat) to 18 exotic South Pacific Islands.  This is the first volume of a planned four books detailing their two-year trip around the world.  That's what got me thinking about the places I really truly want to see one day.

As a member of From Left to Write book club, I received a copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own. You can read other members' posts inspired by The Unexpected Circumnavigation on book club day, June 28 at From Left to Write.
