Back to School Buterfly

This is my second post today :) See my Christmas Stampin' All Year Long project here!

It's time for the monthly project at Limelight Papercrafts! This month we were to create a project with a recycled item - how fun! I decided to make my daughter a little gift to help her get ready for school. Lily Butterfly worked perfectly to help me whip up something that will make her smile!

I started with a pickle jar, to hold her pens and pencils and markers on her desk in her room. After washing it in the dishwasher, that Claussen label just peeled right off! I did spray paint the lid white, but then I decided not to use it at all. I just tied a thick white ribbon around the top. I handstitched the Basic Grey Two Scoops paper together - all 4 feet of it! The paper that wraps around the jar is 12" long, and I stitched each side twice.

I found these mini composition books at Target forever ago, and have been saving them to use. They are perfect because she has to have full size ones for school, so she is all excited about them right now. She loves to write in her "diary". I put the matching white ribbon I used on the jar under the polka dot piece, to tie the book closed.

The bonus to this project? ALL of the cardstock and dp I used were scrap pieces!! Woohoo for cleaning out some of that stash!!!

I had so much fun making this for her, and I can't wait to give it to her! Be sure to go by and see what the other Design Team Members have come up with for our recycled chic projects!
